The Snowmelt River marks Frank P Ryan's return to fantasy, but this time he has entered the world of teenage/adult fantasy rather than adult fantasy, as before.  This book has been a long time in gestation, in part because Frank has been writing several books within the series at once.  The characters of Alan, Kate, Mark and Mo are superbly drawn, and the fantasy elements spectacular and utterly original.  But the proof must be in the reading...

 Irish Teenager Writing Competition

Swift is delighted to announce that The Snowmelt River is the John West Chosen book for 2010.  The promotion will begin on publication of the book in Ireland, with a fantasy short story competition that will be open to all children in Ireland aged between 12 and 19.  Frank Ryan will be working closely with our sponsor, John West (Ireland) to promote writing skills as part of an exciting and fun exercise that will engage with schools and the general public.  For more details of the fantasy short story competition go to:

The renowned artist, Mark Salwowski was commissioned for the cover artwork as well as drawing a series of vignettes of the entertaining and beguiling characters that people the fantasy series, including Granny Dew, Ainé, the Kyra of the Shee, Qwenqwo Cuatzel, Alan, Kate, Mark and Mo, Garg warriors and, of course, the Temple Ship.  These will illuminate the pages of a dedicated website currently under construction at www.frankpryan.com.
